Artist Statement

This series of 35mm photographs were taken in my great-aunt's house after her passing. As my family sorted through her belongings, I sought to document her home of approximately 6 decades. Each snapshot exists as a way to honor the space that held generations of memories, and serves as a meditation on the smaller goodbyes we face in the wake of someone's death. The use of black and white film provides a degree of atemporality in the work -- the home itself existing as a time capsule.
