Cyanotypes

Statement

These works are a collection of experiments made during my studies in graduate school where I was focusing on analog processes, specifically cyanotypes and manipulation of the physical print. The resulting pieces are torn up, stitched through, and scratched to create a sense of facture in a medium that it is not typically associated with. Some of these works also incorporate text which was written during a poetry class where I focused a great deal on spiritualism and ritual. These texts were created using methods of collage and/or erasure, wherein I used a separate text as a source from which to draw words and phrases for reassembly. By pulling directly from other sources, I engaged with the idea of intertextuality which has directly influenced my later work with archives.
